WHY WE AREN’T DONE YET
I have been considering, “Would God offer something to some of His children, and not to the rest?” I have even thought about the story of the Prodigal Son. Yes, the one son was received with welcoming arms and blessed….
I can imagine the disappointment on the kids’ faces if some children receive shoes and others do not. Won’t impartiality create jealousy, division? Why are the poor rewarded with new shoes, while those with parents who work tirelessly in the fields are left to struggle or go without?
1) Locally made shoes support the livelihood and culture of the people.
2) Locally made shoes help the economy & create employment.
3) Locally purchased shoes will be of better quality that the larger manufactures we have sought out in different regions.
4) Locally made shoes will be more culturally acceptable than shoes brought in from the states.
5) Locally made shoes will be able to be repaired & fixed quickly and feasably.
6) Locally purchased shoes support small business and families in this same region.
PUTTING PEOPLE FIRST
Cid and I never want to go into a region with our American mindset. We never want to try and “Americanize” another culture, especially one as beautiful as that of the Incan people. We always want to step humbly into a region, asking the people what their needs are, and then listening to their heart…helping when we can.
For that very reason, we are excited to be joining the local people, purchasing locally made shoes.
But again…
WE NEED YOU
We need you to continue to share, continue to give, and continue to pray that God would make a way for us to purchase all 260 pairs of shoes, so that not one child will be left without their own, quality-made, leather-bound school shoes.
EACH SHOE IS SIZED BY CHILD & MATCHED FOR EACH SPECIFIC NEED
As we purchase each pair of shoes, please know we are matching boys with boy shoes & girls with girl shoes. Each child is also sized to ensure their own particular pair of shoes fit. (We don’t want a huge free for all, where some kids end up with too small or too big shoes, or others get left out)
