Elizabeth Stone once said, “Making the decision to have a child – It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”
But what happens when that child is gone? What happens when children grow up, leave for college? What happens when time is cut short and your heart is not only outside your body…but far off, distant, in a place you cannot see?
What happens when your heart is scattered in a thousand pieces, and there seems no way to retrieve each one of them?
I lay my Bible down and sit at the round table. A beautiful soul describes how everything she has known has been stripped straight from her.
Pieces…scattered.
And how do you know who you are, when everything is gone, and there is no visible substance to stand upon?…

Hi Jen, Thank you for the link up. Blessings, Kim
Kim – Thanks for linking up! 🙂
Thanks Jen for the email reminding me to linkup at Unite. Just wanting you to know that I link up first with you since you send that email.
I love it that you are having a conference with Missional Women this coming April. I have really been enjoying the posts over at MW. I don’t think I will be able to go but just wanted to encourage you.
Judith – So glad the e-mail is helpful. Sometimes I wonder & never want to bombard people’s e-mail.
So glad you are enjoying MW. It’s a great site with lots of practical encouragement! I love writing over there! So sad you can’t make the conference, but maybe next time! Would love to meet you in person!
I love the quote at the beginning of this post. I nod my head ‘yes’ and I choke back tears and feel the joy of being a mother. Thank you.
Linda – Oh yes, these treasures God has graced us with…gifts indeed!
so excited to get to meet you at the Missional Women conference!
Melissa – So looking forward to meeting you too!
Hi Jen,
It is never easy when our children leave home and become independent after we have poured our hearts and souls into them-it leaves you feeling rather empty! However, I am so blessed to share a loving relationship with my lovely daughters, who still today need their mama quite often! 🙂
Blessings sweet friend!
Denise
Denise – What a treasure your daughter seems to be! Yes, our children are always close in heart no matter what, aren’t they? Whether near or far, old or young…
