Good morning everyone! Today I am trying something I haven’t done lately. It is for (in)Courage. It is a challenge given by Lisa Jo Baker. The challenge is to turn on the alarm in my kitchen and write for 5 minutes flat.
Absolutely NO re-do’s, editing, or re-writes because I don’t like what I jotted down.
I have to admit that I did fix three words that had letters backwards because my dyslexia kicked in! ๐ Oh, and I added photos to make the writing more appealing. Ugh, o.k. one more thing. I also went back and put in bold specific thoughts, highlighting, indenting, or underlining a sentence or two.
But besides that, here it it goes. Real. Raw. Writing.
Ready. Set. Go….
The prompt today is WORSHIP.
Little toes dip into the ice cold water, hands wave at the joy found in the ocean, in the joy of sand crinkling between her toes.
A couple climbs high into the mountains, they look around with magnificence, simply speechless, in awe of all God created.
There are no words for this omnipotence. There are no glorifying praises that come from mouths to praise the maker of such speechless beauty.
A down syndrome boy sits up front. The congregation sings calmly, controlling all their thoughts. This boy waves his hands wildly in the air. Eyes peer to heaven.
He doesn’t care what others think. He simply wants to worship.
A man labors. Few see. He works daily, diligently, to provide for his family.
A housewife folds, bows head over wrinkled clothes and carefully prays over each soul that belongs to each item.
A caregiver finally reaches the nursing home. She has sat there day after day after day….Alone. The walls are closing in on her. A face, a touch, a word from someone who cares…means everything.
A spent-one lays flat across her floor. There in her bedroom all alone and lays the days worries, her heart and soul out to her Maker.
She erupts everything inside her, because she knows the one she confides in won’t chastise her, won’t scold, criticize, condemn, or compromise what is best for her.
He simply loves. She loves him back desperately.
All of these are worship. A state of not just the mouth, the ears, the hands doing something….
But worship is a condition of the heart, a bowing that says God’s work, His praises, communion with God and others is more important that what we are or what we want to do.
Worship is giving God praise, honor….worth.
Giving God everything. Everything from our hearts…all the way to the works of our hands.
How can you worship God today?
Stop.
O.k. That was fun!
I did pier at the clock ever few minutes to see where I was and to not end my writing with “everyth……” or some other have written sentence of chopped up word. But besides that, I think I “obeyed the rules”. ๐
I love this challenge! Thanks Lisa Jo Baker. Hope to join her and all of you again for One Word Fridays!

This is beautiful! I think I was meant to read this too. Mine is somewhat similar. What a lovely writing style you have, thanks for posting ๐
Thanks! I absolutely love how God UNITES the thoughts of complete strangers together! He is sooo amazing! Thanks for stopping by from #FMF.
Dear Jen
A.W.Tozer also said that when we do everything for the glory of God, the whole world becomes a sanctuary and every act becomes holy!! I have found this to be so true!
Blessings XX
Mia
Mia – Just beautiful! I love A.W.Tozer! Thanks for sharing!
Yep, 5 Minute Fridays are fun! What can come out of our pens in just 300 seconds can surprise even us!
Your photos are striking, amazing, winsome. Our little ones truly get it, don’t they?
Linda – Absolutely they do, my friend! ๐
Oh yes, worship is a condition of the heart. Well said …
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Debbie – Thanks for your comment! Blessings to you also!
Wow! For limiting yourself to 5 minutes flat, you did an awesome job of writing on the subject of worship! I couldn’t write under those rules. That’s too much pressure and I would end up having a brain freeze and think of nothing to write! Some people, like you, seem to do really well under pressure!
Thanks for sharing!
Ann @ Christ in the Clouds
Ann – You are way too sweet! Being prolific can actually be my biggest downfall…but thanks for your sweet compliment. ๐
So glad you jumped in this week! This was a blessing to read and I love your photos!
Thanks Barbie!
Hi Jen! I liked all your little scenarios of worship. Most of them are so effective because the sense of self is lost, reaching out to the Lord.
Beautiful!
Ceil
Ceil – Oh yes…the very essense of worship friend…loss of self!
Jen, this was beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes, just tears of utter joy. I was so touched by the many images that came to my mind as you painted such vivid real-life pictures of people worshiping the Lord.
Yes, in all ways, on all days, we should worship the One who gave us EVERYTHING…including Himself.
GOD BLESS!
Sharon – So glad you were touched and sensed His goodness even more throught his post. He is worthy…so, so worthy of our praises!
Not only was this a great post, but the beginning was too cute!! All the fixes and pictures and dyslexia and …five minutes and you did wonderfully well.
I just wrote on worship and found that we wear our worship as we live each day. Your words…”worship is a condition of the heart” is so true and right on. It is so much more than all that we think it is.
Glad I came by for I have been blessed, ~ linda
Linda – Thanks for stopping by. “We wear our worship daily” …i just love that!
