Outside. Peering around a plant in the driveway. Abandoned. Baby kitten. We scoop it up. Coddle it. In arms of love. Thinking…..”Why would anyone abandon such a precious part of God?”
Girls squeal. Another kitten. Behind the wheel of our car. This one runs off and struggles to get caught. Just as cute. Just as playful.
But then, another, in our back yard.
And another.
And another.
And another.
And finally we think we are done. Until furry feet scamper behind the house and down a vent leading to under our house.
But, my husband is smart. And with food, soon lures him out.
And there are seven all together.
Who would ever come to our dead end and leave something so precious?
And. Not just seven…..but our cat gave birth a few weekends ago. Four more kittens!
Thirteen cats. All together. And we run frantically work to keep them all together.
Little hands becoming most valuable. Cuddling and coddling and keeping protected over a dozen kittens running around our feet.
They eat frantically. And I think….
How many of us are like kittens running around? Lost? Looking for food or a place we can rest? Just someone who loves us?
But yet. God, The Creator of every living being watches over the sparrow…
And He watches over us. Even if we felt too like we have been left. Abandoned. Dumped in a field with no one around to help.
So, I know. That as we run. Or hide in vents. Under metal traps. Or around our proverbial plants….
God sees.
- He sees where we are going.
- He sees where we have been.
- He sees what we lack.
- An He sees what He must supply for our benefit.
And all we need? Is to identify Him.
Identify that He is our caretaker. So, we can stop feeding off whatever we find in nature.
He is trying to find us. And He longs for us to run into His arms so He can care for us. And…
Find rest in Him.
Rest….like the seven kittens that I found this week…..
Now sleeping safe, tummy’s fed, on our covered front porch.

Aww so precious! 13 kittens! Isn’t a full house amazing! God is so good! Thank you God for giving us the opportunity to take care of your creatures, great and small!
Very sweet, I hope you can find some of them good homes. If you have a farm a few could perhaps stay with you?
Congratulations.
My next kitty will be a calico, as soon as I find it. My old Smudge kitty is now age 14 and slowing down. She is a tortoise shell calico and has been my best ‘child’ ever.
How cute!! new follower – thank you for participating in the blog hop!
Hello, found you through Friendship Friday. 13 cats! I have 1 cat and 1 dog which is sufficient for us.
Your post Ponderings from the Pond 4: The voice of God—was lovely!
Thank you!
Oh, my! I love the pictures, but your message is the best for me! And I shall surely remember it because I have 13 precious kittens in my mind’s eye as well. May I depend upon Him for my every need. Glad I came by! ~ linda
