And I read this morning…
Your faith must not be a passive faith.
For as day’s progress, a spirit of apathy will prevail.
And with hardships all around, we moan….But,
“We just can’t believe.”
Yet, how many untrustworthy things do we have faith in?
Man, who is proven fallible, we cling to…Yet, God who is perfect, we resist.
It just doesn’t make sense.
Believing is a choice.
It’s not about our feelings, but an act of our will.
And for those less certain days, drown in gray….
We pray…. “Lord, help my unbelief.”
Then, He carries us, like a sparrow, in the palm of His hand. And as we choose to cling to Him…faith gathers like a flower in the field of our doubt.
And we discover…. “All things are possible to him that believes”.
Faith.….Obtains Promises. Faith.….. Stops lions mouths.
Wrought Righteousness. Escapes the sword.
Subdues Kingdoms. Quenches fire all around.
And….Faith rises like a fern seeking life, in an old wooden deck stretched out over our pond.
And I turn from my reading as the sun peaks through the clouds.
Mustard seed in my pocket….
…..Strolling home from our pond.

This is a wonderful call to put our faith in Him!
He is faithful, and worthy of our faith. Thank you for these encouraging words.
Katie – Thanks for the encouragement.
Yes, He is truth worthy, proven sturdy, capable…and so worthy of our faith. I love how you said that Patti~
Oh this speaks straight into my soul! And this: “Believing is a choice. It’s not about our feelings, but an act of our will.” That has been the key to my return to faith after so many years.
So happy these words spoke to you. Even more happy to hear of your return to faith after all this time! Many Blessings to you ~ jen
Hi Jen – How true it is that we find it easier to have faith in what we see, good or bad, than in the One who created us and everything else. I want my faith to be strong – thanks for the reminder to have faith in the one for whom all things are possible.
God bless
Tracy

Hi Jen,
I’ve enjoyed my visit here on your beautiful blog. Thank you for the nice comment on Spiritual Sundays. I’m glad you found us and we found you.
Blessings,

I love how your fern photo illustrates the theme so well. I never want God to say, “Oh ye of little faith.” “Faith gathers in the field of our faith.” Love that.
What a powerful reminder of the importance of tying our emotions to the truth – it is an act of our will sometimes to cling to what we KNOW when all around us ‘appears’ to be spiraling out of control. This was well said and I really enjoyed reading this today!
Charlotte – Me too. Me too. ๐
Pamela – Oh yes…that we could be those of great faith. I keep thinking how upon His return He asks…”But, will I find faith on the earth?” May it be so with us! Yes!?
Susan – Thanks for reading. So glad to have you stop by.
Great comments. Thanks for the feedback everyone! ~ jen
Yes, faith is a choice, an act of the will. When life and worries just get too much and i feel hopeless, I have to choose to believe that He is in control and will work things out for my good.
beautifully written…let faith arise!!

Faith is not passive. So true. At times I wish it were though; I could be better at it. ๐
Lovely
Me too, Lisa….me too. ๐
Thanks Cathy.
Bless you both ~ jen
I found myself here in your words. I’m often like the father that prayed, “Lord help my unbelief.” Oh that I would see and walk in belief!
sounds like you had a great trip to the pond…isnt it nice when we make room to ponder that such wonderful thoughts spill out…faith is not passive, tru dat
Heather – Oh, don’t we all wax and wane at times from full of faith…to struggling w/ unbelief. Praying faith rises in your life, dear sister. ~ jen

Such moving words, Jen! It reminded me that faith required effort. Sometimes I tend to be lax in my faith and yet I proclaim to be a believer. It is so embarrassing…
Thank you for this reminder, Jen. Take care and God bless. ๐
Irene
Irene – We all tend to wax and wane between fully engaged w/ God and hands clenched from God. Yet, the opening takes effort…how beautiful the blessing when all is an offering to Him. So glad to have you here Irene. Many prayers & blessings to you, ~ jen
