Why Adopt?

Why Adopt?  People ask.  Isn’t your family perfect, just the way it is?  Why adopt?

Because we are more than just ourselves….we are His.

His story, is our story, which in turn becomes another story.

While we were yet sinner’s Christ died for us. Not by works, or once perfect, but while we were tarnished.  Like ashes to beauty, resurrected from the grave.  He took us while empty & formed us with His hands.

While running, still struggling, rebellious at heart.  The God of all Creation, reached down tenderly, generously and saved us.  He saved us.  While still sinners.  He saved us.  And gave us eternal life, turning darkness into light. In the dead of night. He called forth light.

Why you ask?
   Why adopt?
Look into the heart of God.
         What is your redemption story?
Can you see His abounding glory….in your life?
               From your past?
Can you tell of what he did?
How He saved you from your past….from your graves of sin?

We bring home a child.  And see ourselves.  The loss we’d have without His help. He owned us, renamed us, & gave us a new home…In the heart of God.  Not because we were good.

But love.  All because of love.  No more, no less.  Just because….We are more than our story, we were called to share His glory, to continue with His story of how He reached for us.

Our testimony stale, if we hide in self-righteous veils.  Pretending we are saved because we prayed a prayer when four.

It’s more.

A confession.  The knowledge of the truth.  We were sinners & without Him….destitute.  No hope.  No story.  No goodness.  No family.  Without Him…nothing.

With Him?  Saved.

We give our lives away.  Because our child’s adoption story is our adoption story.  We continue to share His glory and the goodness of His ways.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”  ~  Romans 8:14-16
