Peru

Twenty-three years. Almost to the date. That is how long it took between my first trip to Peru and the last.

The first time, my husband and I flew to Peru so we could introduce family to our newly born son.DSC_0893 He was almost two at the time.

But this last time? We went to Peru based on a calling, a vision. A purpose God birthed in us, long before we knew our friend’s were trying to adopt from this exact same region.

We went sensing, it was time to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We went in faith..hardly realizing all our eyes would see or experience.

The pages below are documentation of this journey. The stepping stones to a call much bigger than some twenty-fifth Anniversary shared in Machu Picchu.

Won’t you join me in reading, as God expands, heals, and touches hearts in ways we never knew they needed touching.

It is here, we fell in love with a gentle people who seemed so much more than some, “Forgotten people of the Andes”.

God had a plan, bringing us to Peru. It lead to our son leaving home and traveling to this country, then campaigning and launching a two-week, shoe fundraiser…

It was then we saw true riches and poverty. Riches of friends and loved ones supporting our mission and praying people surrounding us…poverty of a culture that can worship fame, greed, and gluttony. Poverty of our own souls when it races after empty promises that don’t satisfy.

Below is our story, as we traveled three flights to inland Peru, and I experienced a slow dying, until Jesus stretched out wide and showed us something far more spectacular than anything we could ask, think, or imgine…
