On this side of the veil…
I lay looking out at the twinkling lights painted against the black palet of night. A child wondering what resides, on the other side of the veil.
On this side of the veil…
I cling and fight as a youth, desperate for a peak of hope, stories unfolding in my heart, from younger days, in tiny chairs, taught in Sunday School.
On this side of the veil…
I look for good.
When the heavy blanket of sin seems to fall. Through the lies and betrayal, and people pretending like plastic dolls, falling right and left….
I wonder. I need confirmation. I seek reasurrance.
On this side of the veil…
He hangs in peace through the pain, while life fails and this world seems to ache in excruciating birth pains.
He gazes with piercing eyes; not in guilt or shame; but with a longing that I might reach through the veil to find Him…
On this side of the veil.
Worlds collide. Politics fail. People vie for worth or purpose, trying to be smarter or more useful.
We all lose our Christ-likeness, sometimes…
Forgetting our message lies not in eloquent words, failing man’s wisdom, or some knowledge given apart from the grace He has given.
On this side of the veil…
We detest what we cannot see. The logical despise the unseen.
We put on man-made crowns, primp and pose like peacocks begging for attention from some vain image that evaporates once we reach it.
On this side of the veil…
We forget the true Kingdom is peace and goodness, rigtheousness and mercy.
We live all in our own strength, and then wonder why Christ seems distant.
On this side of the veil…
We are unsettled. Completely restless. Always wondering who we are and where we belong.
Isn’t our real home not of this earth?
On this side of the veil…
We see those who have gone before us. In fading images. In dreams and photos. We miss their hugs, their kisses upon our foreheads…
Their gentle encouragement, like wind, pushing us out to sea.
On this side of the veil…
We are lone soldiers.
We do not see the God of Angel Armies fighting on our behalf. We miss the angel wings outspread; warring, commanding, and sending messages to and fro.
We are small. Limited. Trapped in human flesh.
On this side of the veil.
And we forget, we are first spirit, descendents from heaven, trying to get back to our home.
We live carnally, instead of for eternal purposes.
We lose sight of the great Prize waiting for us upon our return; clinging to golden calves, that can never actually redeem.
On this side of the veil…
Bible stories of parted seas, stones given, hand writing on the wall, and a den of lions prowling, but never killing. are but images in our minds.
And yet, the God of all Ages still fights for us. Today. In this place and in this time.
We are not alone…
On this side of the veil.
When heads are bowed, crowns relinquished, lives surrendered, hearts humbled, we can find…
Faint, willing ears that hear…
Angels chorus’, thunderous horses, carrying chariots to their destiny.
The Father’s heart whispering to our Spirits, calling us to rise, leading us in faith, walking with us towards the purpose He has created for us.
On this side of the veil.
We are not alone. The veil was ripped. The God who rose, delivered you and me.
On this side of the veil…
We are free.
Not to live as caged beings sufficating in our fury, fear or anxiety. But to go forth, in action and with such passion.
His purposes longing to be completed.
On this side of the veil…
There is not us vs. them. We are all one, transparent to His goodness.
We have pure access, to the Throneroom of His grace.
On this side of the veil….
We wait. We see. We hear. We do.
The wall between us and Jesus, has been shred in two.
We do not live in despair as those who are still confined by invisible barriers, trapped by unbelief.
We are His. Fully seen. Fully know. Fully loved.
And His love? It gives us wings, carrying us to places even we would not easily believe.
Eternity rests in our hearts…
On this side of the veil.
Yesterday, today and forever, one.
The left, the stagnant, the waiting? They rise by a new strength. Live in a new way.
Rest on a new grace. Until we reach where our loved ones usher us home…
On the other side of the veil.
