Strength. Character. An unshakeable burden for truth.
A defender. An anchor. Resilient through and through.
A listening ear. A man of few words. An immoveable shoulder that would hold his little girl….when the pain of this life offered no words.
But, most of all….with my Dad……I remember how we danced.
My tiny feet carefully balanced…..on his shoes that seemed a mile wide.
Willingly taking His hand. Scooting intentionally and sliding…..around the kitchen floor.
(Though in my mind….we were inside an elegant, regal ball room)
And I want to dance still now…..even though my feet aren’t quite so small….
There is just something about…..not needing to know the steps. And balancing. And trusting. And being free to spin at my Father’s pace. That felt safe. Like I was held in place…centered in the Universe…..by my Father’s arms.
And now that I am older, thinking about my maker as my Dad…..I consider how often He waits….and reaches out His hand to dance.
On the dance floor of my own life.
His feet big enough to carry me. If I close my eyes. Stepping aboard His invite.
Trusting.
- Trusting He knows the way.
- Trusting that His hands are gripping me….even if I feel like I’m falling.
- Trusting that His steps are sure…..as I am carried by His tune of love.
Yet, how often I slip off. Or get down. Refuse to be carried, leading my alone dance….moving to my own selfish beat.
But, this day. Father’s Day. I say, “yes God.”
I will be that little girl. I will see You as I saw my physical Dad all those years ago.
Me….like that daughter on the kitchen floor.
With child eyes and child heart. I will rest upon your feet. I will trust you alone to carry me…..whatever you desire to lead.
Here. In this place. For your purpose.
Taking your hand…..As we dance.

Sweet memories! Beautiful analogy! Thanks for sharing this with The Sunday Community!
I was commenting on someone’s dancing post last week. She didn’t mention the little girl on Dad’s feet, but that was exactly the direction I was headed with my thoughts. I so see myself being held and blessed and encouraged by Him during the dancing. Can hardly wait.
Aw, what a beautiful reflection for Father’s Day. Thanks for sharing. Along with the lovely photo. ๐
Deidra – Thank you! Always love joining a good link up!
Caryjo – Oh, the dance with the Father that never quits…even when we let go…He never does. The music of His mercy never stops. For this, I am thankful.
Bonnie – So happy to have you stop on by and join in the comments. Thank you!
Beautiful picture, sweet too. From a ‘daughter’ raised without a father this is very meaningful.
That’s a great and beautiful post. I would frame it, if I could ๐ I try to trust God and then not sure I am not always being that little girl… Anyway, newest GFC follower. Love for you to follow back and hook up to Mom’s Monday Mingle.

Thoughts – Oh, can’t tell you how much it means to me that this touched you. It’s sometimes hard to see God as our Father is we have not had a good or even any Father at all. Rejoicing that He is our perfect example!! ๐
Julie – Oh how sweet! Welcome a board! Will come by soon!
Trusting HIS leading that is what we do! Great example.
A Joyful Noise – And what an honor to follow Him, the Trustworthy One, isn’t it, my friend!
If I falter he will catch me and keep me upright! Praise God
A New Song – What an amazing thought…isn’t it! That regardless of how we feel or how we topple or lose balance….He WILL NEVER let us fall! ๐ Thankful with you that He tenderly keeps us in His grips of love.
Beautiful!
I hope you don’t mind but I would like to add this to my list of favourite blogger posts this week?
Wendy – Not at all! Thank you so much for featuring my blog this week! ๐
Totally beautiful, this tribute to your dear dad and to our Abba.
So lovely and true that I’m about to cry tears of joy…
Lord of the Dance!
Debra – Oh, your comment so moves my heart. Rejoicing that my mere words touched you so! He is so good!
Love this! My daughter flipped off her shoes and danced her father/daughter dance on her wedding day. I wept.
What great words of encouragement about our heavenly Father.

This brought back memories of when I would dance on my daddy’s feet. I love the analogy about dancing with the Father, learning to let go and trust. Live is a beautiful dance with God as our leader!
Oh, I love this. Perfect for Father’s Day or any day. Thank you for sharing.
Blessings,
Charlotte
Julee – God Bless you as well!
Barbie – So true. I am glad you can share in such precious memories with your earthly Father and that we can all all embrace, by grace, the loving dance with Our Heavenly Dad.
Charlotte – Thanks for reading. ๐
